Kirsty Carr: Sydney’s Roast Queen, Razor Wit, Real Depth

Kirsty Carr

Kirsty Carr has built a real reputation in Sydney's stand-up scene, and it didn't happen by accident. Dubbed the "Roast Queen" of the Sydney circuit, she brings razor-sharp wit and genuine emotional depth to every set — sometimes in the same breath. By day she works as a Breakthrough Strategist and coach, with over 16 years across government and private sectors and a background in psychology, neuroscience, and NLP. Which means she actually understands how your brain works. She will absolutely use that against you.

Her one-woman show "Me & My Drunken Inner Child" is where things get really interesting. It weaves personal storytelling with sharp observational humour and some hilariously painful truths about growth, resilience, sex, booze, substances, and one very unexpected spiritual pivot. She holds a mirror up to the messiest parts of being human and somehow makes it funny. Anyone who's caught her at Kookaburra's Comedy already knows — she's the kind of performer you find yourself thinking about on the drive home.

In 2023 she won the Australian Roast Battle Championship, which led to a spot on viral comedy channel Yeah Mad TV and introduced her to audiences well beyond Sydney. She's also a 2024 RAW Comedy State Finalist, a 2023 Yo Mama Battle semi-finalist, and a regular face at Sydney Comedy Festival and Sydney Fringe Festival from 2022 through 2024.
