Aleks Milinkovic is a Sydney comedian you need to get familiar with, and fast. Born of Serbian heritage and raised in Brisbane, he eventually made the move to Sydney, a city he has lovingly described as "a cruel and hostile place", and has since established himself as one of the sharpest emerging voices in stand-up the city has produced in years. His Bachelor of Fine Arts from Queensland University of Technology probably explains why everything he does feels a bit more considered than your average open mic guy. On stage and online, the man delivers. Sketches racking up millions of views have introduced his hilarious wit to people who've never set foot inside a comedy club in their lives.
What Aleks does better than almost anyone is take something completely ordinary and drag it somewhere wonderfully unhinged. His comedy is observational and deeply narrative, he builds from situations everyone recognises, the kind of thing you'd clock and forget about by lunchtime, then steers them somewhere you absolutely did not see coming. There's a warmth to it too, a conversational ease that makes you feel like you're just listening to a mate tell a story, right up until you realise you've completely been had. Years deep into the Sydney comedy scene, Aleks has opened for Luke Kidgell and James McCann, appeared at the 2023 Comedy Untamed Showcase, and co-hosts the five-star Apple Podcasts show "Whoa, Free Lunch!?" with Sam Bowden. In July 2025 he dropped his debut special "Live in Sydney (A Cruel & Hostile Place)", filmed at the Chippo Hotel, and it feels like everything he's been building toward since day one, and also very much like a beginning.
