Alex Choi: A Man Finding His Feet In Australian Comedy

Alex Choi was born in Manchester, took a detour through New Zealand and Canada, and somehow ended up in Newtown. He's been working the Sydney circuit long enough that the accent no longer throws people off — though it still gets a reaction.
His comedy runs on the friction between British pub culture and Australian life — material that only lands the way it does because he's actually lived both. Years of being the outsider in every room gave him a self-awareness that turns out to be pretty useful on stage. He also hosted "Brits and Giggles" at the Sydney Fringe Festival, championing up-and-coming British comics and proving he cares about the craft as much as the laughs.
Now a regular MC and performer with Kookaburra's Comedy, catch him live, or follow along at @mrchoiboi on Instagram.
