Bec Charlwood has been a fixture of the Sydney comedy scene since 2014, building a career that covers serious ground. A RAW Comedy State finalist, she's performed at the Sydney Comedy Store, the Sydney Opera House, and Splendour in the Grass, working across stand-up, acting, and MC work with equal ease. Her TV credits include writing jokes for Spicks & Specks, appearing in Rove McManus's The Popular Experiment, producing Games on FOX US's Name That Tune, and featuring in Stan's Lockdown Comedy Festival — plus a familiar slot on triple J. Along the way, she's supported Alan Carr, Joanne McNally, Josh Thomas, Wil Anderson, and Jay Pharaoh. Not bad at all.
Her stand-up is candid and warm, drawing on her own life — including her bipolar diagnosis — with a confidence that never tips into shock value. "Dirty Girl" sold out across Perth Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and Sydney Comedy Festival, with extra shows added at each. From there came "Why Not?" in 2022 and "Toilet Seat Time Machine" at the 2023 Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Her debut special "Bipolar Baby," filmed at Low 302 in Surry Hills, has clocked over 100,000 YouTube views and millions more across TikTok and Instagram. People found it. They kept watching.
Sydney remains home base, and Bec performs regularly at Kookaburra's Comedy events. She also co-hosts two podcasts, "The Dude Cinema" and "The Screen Queens". Find her at @charlbecwood on Instagram and @beccharlwood on TikTok.
